As many of you know P90X was the workout program that changed my life.  I mean I got in the best shape of my life EVER after completing the program and stayed that way by continuing to eat clean and use P90X fairly consistently. I had always loved the program and recommended it to anyone that  asked about a workout program. Fast forward 2 years and having tried just about every workout in the Beachbody catalog, I was looking for a new workout. I have to admit that I am a sucker for sexy packaging and Chalean Extreme caught my eye right away. I hadn’t heard much about the program but thought I would give it a try. I really liked that it was a unisex program that my fiancé and I could do together. Some of the moves are a little girly but my fiancé is in agony at the end just like me. I think he might love the program even more than I do.  I also loved that the workouts were shorter, but didn’t lack in burn. I never knew that you could get your rear end kicked that bad in 35-40 minutes (some workouts in Phase 3 are a little longer). Chalean Extreme definitely does that!

Chalean Extreme-What You Need To Get Started

So I found out that in Chalean Extreme I will be pushing myself to use heavier weights than I have ever used before. Luckily, for me I had just bought my fiancé a set of

Powerblock adjustable dumbbells for Christmas and they are adjustable from 10lbs to 50lbs. I would highly recommend the Powerblocks. You can find more information about them here. In Chalean Extreme Chalene uses Bowflex Select-Techs in the videos but I personally don’t care for them. They are really wide and akward to use, but that is my personal opinion as some people LOVE them. Other than weights (and me as your coach) you will need your Chalean Extreme worksheets, a bottle of water, and a towel.

 

First Impressions of Chalean Extreme

Chalean Extreme is broken down into 3 phases, each lasting 30 days. The first phase of Chalean Extreme is the Burn phase and is designed for you to pick a weight where you fail in 10-12 reps. It is a kick in the rear to get you started. I was in pretty good shape (or so I thought) when I started and I was hurting shortly after the warm-up. Now don’t get me wrong, I am very competitive and when Chalene said that she was doing 20lbs I was like “I can do 25lbs”. Boy was I wrong. The great thing about this workout though is ANYONE can do it. Chalene does a great job in Chalean Extreme of making the moves modifiable whether you are on the fitness level of a pro-athlete or a pro-couch potato.

The second phase of Chalean Extreme is the Push phase and is designed for you to pick a weight and fail in 6-8 reps. This phase was a little un-inspiring to me at first, I really wasn’t looking to “bulk” up and thought that pushing heavy weights I would do so. I was WRONG! If you doubt the body you can have with Chalean Extreme look at Chalene’s sister Janelle, who is in Chalean Extreme. Can you say INSPIRATION!

Phase three of Chalean Extreme is the Lean phase. This is where the weight literally starts to fall off. As Chalene says throughout  Chalean Extreme “MUSCLE BURNS FAT!” and it truly does. Through the first 2 phases of Chalean Extreme I actually GAINED weight. The Lean phase of Chalean Extreme is back to 10-12 reps and really burns the inches off. You have all this new found muscle that is working with you to help burn fat. 

As if Chalean Extreme couldn’t get any better, It adds a 4th phase that will insure that you maintain the results that you have worked so hard for over the last 90 days. This phase of Chalean Extreme is called the “Lean for Life” phase. Did I say “I LOVE” Chalean Extreme?

My Final Opinion of Chalean Extreme

I LOVE this program and will continue to both personally use it and recommend it to my customers. I truly think it is one of the best programs that Beachbody offers. Combine Chalean Extreme with my personal meal plan and you can’t lose.  My only regret with Chalean Extreme is that it took over 2 years to find it!
